A Food Cart Festival

Where else will you find pickled asparagus and deep fried oreos less than 50ft apart...

Good Food

This is the leek, chard and corn flatbread that made my family into die hard fans of Smitten Kitchen.

L'Amante by Beth Cavener Stichter

This guy is on loan to the Chazen Museum. It's an utterly fantastic piece.

Neon Garden

There is biannual neon art exhibition at UW-Madison. They take over the old Stock Pavilion for a few days and light it with the glow of art work, this was one of my favorites in the 2013 show.

Tax Season

This is what a busy day during tax season looks like... That is not a short hallway, you can't see the end of the line in the picture.

Signs of Spring

The snow and ice have finally retreated enough that the fun shoes are coming out of hibernation. This pair is known as the "I got a job!" shoes. I bought them to celebrate getting my first job out of college; they then spent several months in their box waiting for weather fit to wear them in.

Alice

Part of a much larger illustrated poster that has lived in my room for over a decade. My affection for Lewis Carroll goes way back.

Through the Looking Glass

I liked the juxtaposition of the logos from the bar across from the Overture Center floating in the windows.

Happy Pi(e) Day

This year we celebrated with coconut cream pie. It's always a good day for pie.

Origami Mosaic

I've been trying to figure out what to do with this old piece from a 3-D Design class, other than take pictures of it that is.

Snowy Sunset

March began. Still too much snow, even if it's pretty.

Welcome To The Dollhouse

The Barbies in the kids play area at work started out new, after a little over a month though... I maintain that one of them is attempting to start a nudist colony, the other just hasn't been convinced yet.

Broken Teacups

At one of the local tea shops they have pile of broken crockery piled in the corner (I forget the story behind it). I don't know what produced the purple in the reflection from the flash, but I like the effect.

Ganesh in Winter

Spotted on the Northside of Madison, this snowy Hindu deity made me smile.

Winter Rain

At least it looks cool when it freezes on the window. Less amusing on the roads.

A Cheshire Reader

I meant to take pictures at the Iron Dessert Challenge a friend of mine organized, but since I hadn't replaced the batteries in the camera before I left... Photo plan b. This is my Nanoblock Cheshire Cat enjoying Lewis Carroll's The Hunting of the Snark.

The Little Drummer

This little guy was way more interested in practicing his drumming skills than the politics of the Idle No More rally at the Capitol.

Life Is Short, Eat Dessert First

This photo is all that remains of my experiment with Peanut Butter Cup Brownies for a party this Saturday. Not even a crumb returned home with me*.

*Granted, that's because we washed out the container so we could use it to throw dice in, but the brownies were long gone by then.

New year, new project.

A resolution for the New Year is starting this blog. It's a simple one, post a photo for every week of 2013. I promise no particular coherence or theme to the resulting images. This is  a project purely for fun, and I will see where it takes it me.

This first photo was taken New Year's day at a Rose Bowl party at Union South. Just because the party was hosted by a major research university, does not mean they used their spell check.
